At Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre we take website accessibility very seriously and we have tried to design and develop our website to be as accessible as possible.
The Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre website (whitlawburncrc.org.uk) has implemmented certain features in an effort to make it accessible.
Images on this website include alternative text where applicable to describe images for people using screen readers.
Text on this website can be enlarged using controls built into your web browser on Mozilla Firefox you can goto the View menu then Zoom and use the Zoom In and Out controls to increase or decrease text size and to zoom into specific elements of the page in Firefox you can also go to the Tools menu then options and change the default text size that the browser will display.
In Internet Explorer you can go to View then Zoom and select an option to zoom in or out or you can go to View then Text Size to select an option to make text larger or smaller.
At Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre we take validation seriously. Many of the pages on our website validate to web standards, there is still some to fix but rest assured we are working hard to make sure our website markup code is valid.
Having valid markup code on our webpages means our site is more accessible. Assistive technology such as screen readers will be able to represent data more accurately because we validate our code. Validation also improves the structure of the pages. This benefits people with cognitive disabilities as it helps them quickly understand the way content is displayed.
Validation is also a sign of professionalism. You can be sure that our website was built with the utmost care and attention by a seasoned professional to give our users the best possible experience.
Our website was tested for accessibilty by using the Wave accessibility toolbar for Firefox.
